Much of Ginger Nielson's work is digital and created in Corel Painter or digitally enhanced from pen and ink or painted illustrations that she can scan into her Macintosh computer. Using Painter and an occasional touch of PhotoShop she is able to complete those images. She invites constructive critique and is eager to share ideas and views with other children's book illustrators.

Often Ginger will go back and forth between traditional media and the computer until she is satisfied with the work. She keeps all those things that she loves to work with close at hand. Those treasures would be the colored pencils, the acrylic paints, watercolors, clay and papers of all kinds to fold, tear, photograph and manipulate. Ginger's digital camera enables her to capture images created in the natural media, transfer them to the computer and continue to work on them with Painter and PhotoShop.

Ginger has always enjoyed creating her own stories and characters and has written and illustrated stories for the children she has worked with as well as those that she has sent off to publishers.
